Today was the TCS New York City Marathon. Runners from around the world took on the 26.2 miles through the 5 boroughs.
If you were trying to drive in some areas, it may not have been that great but that’s fleeting. From personal experience, for those on the course, it’s a day they’ll never forgot.
In 2013, I completed the marathon and last year I volunteered. This year I wasn’t able to do either, but New York Road Runners offers great live tracking and I checked in as two awesome vegan runners picked off the miles.
It was a perfect day for running and, despite the deceptively hilly course, Gene Baur and Dynise Balcavage both maintained awesome sub 8:30 min mile paces.
Gene, co-founder of Farm Sanctuary, runs to raise awareness for animals. You can read more about Gene, his organization, and ways to lead plant-based lifestyle in his book Living the Farm Sanctuary Life, published by Rodale.
Dynise, author of The Urban Vegan, frequently racks up top rankings in her native Philly.
Both Gene and Dynise make running plant-powered look fun…and possible. Just check out the video below of Gene during marathon.
Enter by Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. EST for a chance to win entry to the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon.
Congrats to all runners and finishers!
