Rock Philly

Today I ran the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in Philadelphia. It being my first half, I was a little nervous. However, as I got dressed and to the start line, I tried to keep in mind the advice Steve Jones gave the day before: ‘Don’t waste your energy on worry.’

I spent the whole time cranking Jason Aldean and thinking to myself:

  1. Smile (If you’ve ever read Born To Run, you’ll get this.)
  2. When others start walking, just keep running.

When I registered, I estimated it would take me 2:45:00. My chip time was 2:24:15.

I don’t know how you celebrate achieving a goal, but I high-tailed it over to Blackbird Pizzeria for a slice and a delicious VeganTreats cupcake.

Thanks to Molly, Evan, and my Dad. You’ve left a mark.

  1. Awwwww! You’re the best! Congrats on your awesome achievement!! You deserve that slice and cupcake (though after a long run, I usually can’t eat much for a few hours!!). See you soon!

  2. Congrats on running your first half marathon! I only recently started running, so I’m not there yet, but I imagine one day, when I do run a longer race, I’ll celebrate the same way you did.
