Pacific Natural Foods’ Roasted Garlic and Mushroom Lentil soup

I needed something hot today since it’s so cold out (but I won’t complain too much because someone somewhere has to be colder than I am right now), so I decided soup. Pacific’s soups are quick; tear open and pour into a bowl, then heat up in the microwave if you don’t have time for the stovetop (or even have one at hand).

This soup is hearty, which is good cause I’m grabbing a quick lunch before I head off to work. It’s creamy and the potatoes and lentils are so tender they fall apart in your mouth, which seems to be a trend with this company. High sodium, though, also seems to be a trend.

If I was at work already, my manager would probably say again that she could smell the salt from my food. Only 210 calories a serving, so 420 for the whole 500g carton, but there’s 740mg of sodium in a serving; 62% of your DV of sodium should you consume the whole thing…and I did. On a more positive note, it does have 28% DV of Dietary Fiber in just half the carton.

Bottom line? As I scrape the bottom of my bowl, I’m hoping this fuels me for the rest of my day. We shall see.
