I came across this cheat sheet from PETA while researching an article and saved it immediately. It’s titled as a baking cheat sheet, but can help for replacing non-vegan items in cooking recipes as well.
On PETA’s page, I noticed a reader concerned with bone char refined sugar. I’m not vegan but I do not consider sugar processed in such a way to be very vegetarian-friendly either. For me, I tend to look for products containing evaporated cane sugar and I grab for a hefty bag of Whole Foods’ Vegan Cane Sugar when I’m planning on mixing up some sweets.
For those with a similar concern, here are some links to help you navigate through the vegan sugar issue:
Add a little sweetness back into your life…without the worry.

Oh, thanks man! I’m trying to challenge myself to post once a day for a month cause I plan on doing a ton of maintenance around the site in October, so posts will be fewer then. I hope she finds it useful. PETA has a ton of little nuggets (hehe) around its site.
